Beyond the Cloudspine

I've started this D&D Dungeon Master Shield last year but only recently I got some spare time to finish it. Five weary champions returning from a great battle... Oh, use this as a soundtrack.

The City

As a tradition, my final post of the year is Thief related. The universe of Thief is centered mostly on a dense, sprawling metropolitan complex only known as "The City" so here is my vision of this industrialized and overgrown dystopian place, where magic and technology colide. I hope 2012 will be a very good year for everybody. Cheers!

Lady of Pain

For those of you not familiar the D&D roleplaying game, this is my interpretation of The Lady of Pain - the fictional protector of the city of Sigil in the Planescape campaign setting. She is also known as Her Serenity, for the permanently vacant expression on her face, The Bladed Queen, or simply The Lady. She is an immensely powerful being who rules Sigil, the City of Doors; she is an entity of inscrutable motives, and often those who cross her path, even if accidentally, are flayed to death or teleported to one of her extra-dimensional mazes. (Print available here!)

Melancholia

Thanks Nine Inch Nails for providing the fucked up music I love, especially this song. This image couldn't have been created without this music. As a bonus, here's a hi-res wallpaper .

Aenigma

This shadowy image came into my mind a few nights ago and haunted me until I've painted this, it took around seven hours in Photoshop, you can see the making of over here.

Nyx

Time for another personal piece. In Greek mythology, Nyx  was the primordial goddess of the night, a shadowy figure, she stood at or near the beginning of creation, and was the mother of personified gods of Sleep and Death.

Thanks Radiohead for providing the fantabulous background music.

This image recently received the 3D Total Excellence Award! Le awesome!

Also you can see the making of in the November 2011 issue of 2D Artist!

Eowyn

Another lady, this time Eowyn from the Tolkien's masterpiece Lord of the Rings, created for the "Eowyn and the Nazgul" challenge on The Art Order. I tried not get influenced by any other artworks on the internet regarding Eowyn, just what I remembered from the books and from the movie of course, and what i've come up with is a little different from the typical battle scene, I've depicted Eowyn victorious over the decapitated body of the Nazgul's fell beast. I must confess I've chosen a static image also because I had limited time to do the painting, took about 4 hours, yet I tried to create a powerfull iconic image.

::Carol I of Romania::

This painting is a tribute to King Carol I (1866-1914), the greatest and the most devoted of all the rulers of Romania, he helped the country gain its independence, he raised its prestige, he helped redress its economy and he established a dynasty.

The painting is a personal piece, I wanted to create the rough look of an old painting.

::First Snowfall::

I don't know about you but for me 2010 was an amazing year, with many dreams fulfilled, and I hope the next one will be even better. Here's a small gift for all of people out there who support and encourage me, a wallpaper with Garrett patrolling the rooftops of The City at the break of winter. I also hope that from now on, the last blog post of every year will be a Thief related artwork . Enjoy and have fun!
